Exhibition Preparations: THE TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS

Posted on

As summer languished to a close, autumn sprung opportunities to display my artwork (Parallax Art Fair, Snug Art Cafe & SMAG ART Exhibition). Exhibition preparations looming ahead, you’d think I would be a pro at exhibiting my work by now, what with my arts degree background, but nope. That surely is not the case. It’s always a learning curve. Each and every step.

Exhibition Preparations

I often to-and-fro from which artworks I will exhibit. The line-up of artworks in itself changes – from the moment of committing to the exhibition, till the last two days of the set-up. The irony of this often reveals itself on the last day, as I end up going full circle and end up with the set-up I initially decided on.

I know this, yet each and every time I repeat the cycle. Go figure. Perhaps this is part of the creative process. The excitement and nerves build up to create an unconscious orchestrated crescendo, which – like a spaghetti junction, takes you in circles – round the junction – then sets you back in the right direction. Perhaps? I will let you know if this theory holds for my next exhibitions. How is the creative process like for you?

Exhibition Preparations to Exhibitions

Here’s all the details of the exhibitions/art fairs I’ve participated so far and which ones are still on until the end of the year – all in bitesized chunks!

Parallax Art Fair

First foray into exhibiting at an art fair. My nerves hit a massive high in the lead-up to this event. Having said that, once I was there my nerves dissipated. I met some great artists (This is Fun Art, Silvana Art, Nahako, Fhgrafics, Rasia Ambros & Soraia Anderson) and art lovers – plus I sold a painting which was the icing on the cake. Definitely will be doing this again. Next one is in February 2022 – I hope to see you there!

Solo Exhibition at The Snug Art Cafe

You never know when the next opportunity will find you. As I set out to focus on my art and start doing it full time, that intention set-off a chain of events which led me to here. My solo exhibition at the Snug Art Cafe. It’s on until the end of the year. Catch it before it ends and grab a cuppa and a yummy bite to eat at the same time. 🙂

Despite all the stress that comes with preparations for exhibitions, it never ceases to amaze me how worthwhile it has been – and that, when the artworks find their space on the wall alongside the other artworks, well, that satisfaction, that realisation that it’s all come together perfectly, that it makes sense. That moment. That moment is akin to watching the calming sea in peaceful bliss. That is the moment the calm comforts me with a warming hug.

Does this resonate with you? Has that moment caught you unawares as it has me? I’ll let you ponder that for a while. And as I do, I wish you a beautiful day. In my next post I will share the why’s behind what I do and what my vision is going forward. I hope to see you there.

In the meantime, if you like to shop, you still have time to find fun and unique gifts for Christmas or even treat yourself to an artwork. Hurry though as the sale end this Tuesday, grab yourself a special deal of upto 50% off selected artworks. I’d hate for you to miss out. For a cheeky 10% more, sign up to my newsletter. 😉
